Regional Training Centre Now Open
The College is pleased to announce in collaboration with Invest in Doncaster (part of Doncaster Metropolitan Council) that it has officially opened its first Regional Training Centre at Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
After being granted approval in accordance with statutory UK CAA and EU directives, the college commenced its Doncaster Airport operations with an Approach Control Surveillance (APS) course on 11 th October 2010.
Owen Phillips, Cwmbran College business development manager said “It has always been our aim to open regional training centres from our hub college at Cwmbran, and meet the requirements of our customers in a more cost effective manner. This underpins our overall college strategy going forward, and we look forward to working with our new partners and stakeholders over the coming years”.
The new centre is adjacent to the LRTT training facility, providing EASA Part 147 training and comes with a full range of recreational facilities including student lounge/rest areas, fully interactive classrooms, broadband/Wifi services, locker rooms and an onsite restaurant facility.
Kevin Ellis, head of the Take off at the Airport team at DSA said "The arrival of the Cwmbran training college at Robin Hood is tremendous news for the Airport and Doncaster. The Airport is developing a reputation as a strategic base for training organisations and the College sits nicely with the BAE Systems Aviation Maintenance Academy. We are extremely proud to be announced as their first regional training centre and we look forward to working closely with the College in the coming months to ensure their smooth transition into the area."
